Step by step

1. Export the deck from Anki

Right-click the deck, choose Export, and pick Anki Deck Package. Your file is opened in the browser, so you see the real field names before anything else happens.

2. Pick the field and the language

Choose which field carries the words to pronounce, usually the one in the language you are learning, and tell us which language that is. The voice follows the language.

3. Read the preview, check the price, then voice it

The page lists the exact lines the voice will read, so a wrong field or a wrong language is obvious before you pay for it, and it shows the cost up front: one credit per 200 cards, with a leftover smaller than half a batch thrown in free. A deck that would cost 5 credits or more asks you to confirm first, and a deck you cannot afford says so before anything is spent. Voicing signs you in with Google, because speech synthesis runs on our servers.

4. Import the deck back into Anki

Download the rebuilt .apkg and import it. The mp3 files travel inside the package, so the cards speak on every device you sync to.

When the import looks wrong

Only the voiced field leaves your browser

The deck itself is read and rebuilt locally. The text of the field you chose is sent to our servers to be turned into speech, and nothing else is.

Long text is skipped

Cards whose chosen field runs past 200 characters are left silent rather than read aloud as an essay. The page tells you how many were skipped.

Formatting is flattened

The rebuilt deck carries plain text, so bold, colours, images and any custom styling on your note type do not survive the round trip.

Cloze decks keep working

A deck built on a cloze note type comes back as one, blanks intact, and the voice reads the sentence with the hidden word spoken normally rather than the {{c1::}} markup around it.

Reverse cards are not rebuilt

A note type that generates more than one card per note, such as Basic and reversed card, comes back with the forward card only. Voice a copy rather than your only source of a two-way deck.

Some notes were skipped

Decks that mix note types are reduced to the most common one, and the reader reports how many notes it left out.

Cards that already speak

Existing [sound:...] references are stripped when the deck is read, so a card gets exactly one new recording rather than two stacked ones.

Do I need AwesomeTTS or HyperTTS?

No. The recordings are generated here and packed into the .apkg itself, so the deck speaks in Anki with no add-on installed and keeps working on AnkiMobile and AnkiDroid.

What does it cost?

Signing in gives you 5 free credits, refilled every 30 days. Voicing costs one credit per 200 cards, rounded to the nearest, so a deck of 200 cards or fewer is one credit and a deck of 605 is three rather than four. You see the exact price before you spend anything.

Is my deck uploaded?

The .apkg is read and rebuilt in your browser and never uploaded. Only the text of the field you chose to voice reaches our servers, which is what speech synthesis needs.

Why do I have to sign in?

Reading your deck and choosing the field happen without an account. The voices run on paid servers, so the step that generates audio is tied to your account and its credits.

Which languages have voices?

All 20 languages NextLang supports, each with a natural neural voice. Pick the language of the field you are voicing, not your own.

How big a deck can I voice?

Up to 5 MB and 20,000 notes, the same limits as the other converters. Bigger decks are split into batches of about 200 cards, one credit each, and a final batch under half that size costs nothing.
